I’m fascinated with the idea that the characters of the old myths still walk among us. They must have been based on real people, and those real people now have descendants who fret about their mortgages, go shopping, watch sport on TV, like a beer. This painting is probably likely to be realised in big screen form, with Scarlett Johansson playing Queen Maeve.
